With half term fast approaching, you may be breathing a sigh of relief…and turning your thoughts to days out to keep the children entertained during the break. Here is our pick of the best in our area.

Stockeld Park

A perennial favourite, Stockeld Park really does set the bar for Spooky days out and with something for all ages it can make a very easy day out if you have children of varying ages.

Walk, run and hide in the Illuminated Enchanted forest, where witches hide invisible letters to make a spooktacular riddle. Get lost in the maze whilst counting how many bats you can find or really tire the children out with Nordic skis and ice skating.

Where: 2 miles north- west of Wetherby. LS22 4AN

How Much: Not the cheapest at £20 for a full day ticket but you really will fill a whole day and be coming back for more.

When: 20-31 October

Cannon Hall’s Pumpkin Festival.

The pumpkin patch returns again (with almost 10,000 pumpkins, in fact) and each child receives a voucher for one. Design and carve on site with the help of the expert pumpkin carvers or take home for later.

Follow the “trick or Treat” trail, marvel at the performing witches or make your own Halloween headdress.

Spot prizes are given to children who staff think have made that extra special effort with their fancy dress costume and as if all that wasn’t enough there are still all the usual Cannon Hall activities to enjoy, such as the farm Animals and the vast  indoor and outdoor adventure play areas.

Where:  Cannon Hall Farm, Cawthorne, S75 4AT

How Much: £9.95 (includes all day entry to the farm)

When: 21-31 October
