Top 5 tips for spider proofing your Leeds Student house this Autumn.

September 28, 2017

Yes, it’s that time of year again…spider mating season and if you’re not a fan of the eight legged creepy crawlies, here are our top five tips for keeping spiders out of your home!

Reduce spider food.

Arachnids love eating flies and other insects so clear away any dead ones from the dusty corners of your home.

Get that Vac out.

Try to vacuum high and low to remove any cob webs and spider eggs.  Check sheltered spots behind sofas and dark corners. You will enjoy the dust free environment, so its win, win really.

Oranges and lemons.

Spiders do not like the smell of citrus so lemon juice around window sills and frames is a great repellent. Lemon is a natural cleansing agent too so your house will smell fresh and clean.

Tea tree too..

This is another smell spiders will avoid at all costs, so invest in some tea tree essential oil which you can diffuse around your home.

If all else fails there’s always conkers.

Some say this is an old wives tale, others swear by it and as they are not in short supply in autumn, stock up and place in bowls by window ledges. At the very least you can always hold a conker tournament with your fellow students.
